Position Objective

The Manager, Design Services manages and inspires a multi-disciplined team of design and multimedia professionals and is responsible for all creative asset deliverables from the agency

They help guide creative implementation across integrated marketing channels, ensuring that the overall visual expression aligns with brand strategy, communication objectives and media requirements. They champion asset management best practices to ensure that client materials remain cohesive over time, and that brand assets and design schemas are continuously up-to-date and centralized.

Reporting to the Creative Director, and working in close collaboration with all agency teams, the Manager, Design Services is integral to ensuring our clients’ brand presence, essence and integrity is fully and accurately expressed across all media.

With future growth, the Design Services department may be developed into a semi-autonomous entity, either within Brandish or as a stand-alone organization. The Manager, Design Services role would continue to lead this skilled team to help define and establish national, world-class brands.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build, lead and inspire a team of world-class design and multimedia professionals to create strong well-thought-out, customer-centric creative materials
  • Coach, mentor, and train staff as needed to ensure creative execution needs are continually met
  • Help establish processes and best practices for project execution and ongoing brand and asset management
  • Contribute to the quality assurance process to ensure the technical accuracy and overall design quality of all outgoing work
  • Directly manage individual staff performance as well as the operational performance of the team, anticipating and developing meaningful plans for periods of excess capacity
  • Foster a culture of excellence that inspires creativity, innovation, skill-sharing and continuous improvement
  • Forecast training opportunities and hiring needs to set up the department for strategic growth
  • Liaise with art directors to understand, communicate and manage the creative expression of each client’s brand
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team leaders to set and manage project scope and deadlines, and understand relative priorities
  • Review and ensure briefs and production orders are succinct, relevant and driven by customer insight
  • Keep stakeholders informed of progress and anticipated challenges and recommended solutions
  • Maintain connection to the creative industry as a whole, staying abreast of new tools, best practices, emerging trends and local talent
  • Establish and manage relationships with external vendors
